About Us

We usually have no access to the consciousness and mental contents of others, so it is possible that a person with aphantasia may not even suspect that sentences beginning "IMAGINE..." can be interpreted literally, but most people might jokingly reply "Okay, in colour, or maybe in black and white?"...

It is important to note here that what is an 'a' for one person in a self-report questionnaire will be a 'b' for another person, and often the person is starting from their own subjective reality, especially if they have no other reference point. This is a perfectly normal phenomenon, which is why our research team - Cyclopsych - is working on finding an objective measure that does not require relying only on subjective experience.
